30% faster growing than the blue spruce i.e.: at five years of age blue spruce will be 2.5 ft tall; white spruce 4 ft tall. White spruce needles 1/8 inch shorter than the blue spruce needles. Best planted beside existing rows or companion planted with fast growing poplars in same row at 10 ft spacing ie: poplar-spruce-poplar-spruce so spruce has optimal shade, wind protection and snow cover.
